The EE Viva Voce Concept
Rationale:
In order to ensure all American Creativity Academy IBDP students have researched, written and have gained knowledge in their area of expertise. In addition, to demonstrate that they are disciplined and well equipped to present and hand over university level work. The aim is to give students an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of a subject of their interest at a university-like level. This opportunity will ensure student ownership of the extended essay and offer each student an educational forum similar to the Academic Excellence Showcase that many universities hold every year.
Format:
Each student is given 10-15 minutes to present their most up-to-date findings and research related to their EE before a panel of their EE supervisors, peers and parents.
Students will be required to inform the panel of the following:
Requirements:
Supervisors:
Supervisors are invited to come into the Viva Voce Session during the day to observe their tutees present their work. This will also count as a formal interview and an opportunity to fill in EE Viva Voce supervisor form. It would be greatly appreciated if you could come to the session listed for your tutee but feel free to pop in during the day to other sessions as it is a rewarding experience and good professional development into Extended Essays.

Viva Voce - April 16th, 2015
The EE Viva Voce Concept
- Students present a PowerPoint presentation about the conclusion of their research question and their overall findings to a Viva Voce panel, parents, staff, administration and peers.
- The student/parental audience will have an opportunity to offer comments and ask questions about their investigation.
- It also offers an opportunity to students to learn about the different topics that have been researched and consequently broaden their knowledge about different contexts and issues of global importance.
